Opening a Bottle will be hosting a monthly virtual wine tasting via Zoom. The cost will be $45 per class, plus the cost of wine. For each class, a wine list will be provided that you are responsible for purchasing in advance of the class start date.

White Wines from the Garden of France: A Virtual Tasting of the Loire
February 13 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm MST
$45.00
The Loire River Valley encompasses an enormous area of land in France, offering wine lovers a diversity of tastes — from the round and easy-to-please Muscadet wines near the Atlantic to the crisp and minerally Sauvignon Blanc of Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé near Burgundy.
In this virtual tasting, I’ll be leading guests on an exploration of the distinctive white wines that can only come from the Loire. Guests will log-in to Zoom and view a highly visual presentation on the Loire complete with rich photography, detailed maps and information to help you be a more informed drinker of these fantastic white wines. We will explore and discuss the culture, winemaking technique, terroir and — of course — the wines of three distinct regions. We will plan to taste:
- 1 Muscadet from Muscadet OR Muscadet Sevrè et Maine
- 1 Sauvignon Blanc from Sancerre OR Pouilly-Fumé
- 1 dry Chenin Blanc from Savennières, Anjou Blanc, Saumur Blanc, Touraine Blanc, Vouvray, Montlouis-sur-Loire OR Jasnières
Guests looking to taste virtually with me will be responsible for buying their own wines, but all registrants will immediately receive an email with a Buyer’s Guide to Loire Valley White Wines to help guide them through their options. I will also make myself available for private consultation on these purchases.
Plan on a budget of $55-$175 for the three wines.
Note: One ticket is good for a single log-in (so no need to buy two tickets if you are a couple). Multiple parties are expected to buy a ticket per party calling in. We will start promptly at 8pm Eastern (USA time).
